CAN DRIVE

The week of November 15-21 is National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week. USP Circle K decided to hold a can drive competition for the school in which the student organization that donated the most amount of food would get a free pizza party sponsored by our student government! All of the donated food will be given to Philabundance, which will distribute the food to homeless shelters throughout Philadelphia.

There's more food on the way!

The Christian Fellowship's in the lead so far!

And the winner is...Phi Psi!

Thanks to all of the groups that participated! We look forward to having another can drive next fall!

STEP OUT WALK FOR DIABETES

Diabetes Mellitus is a metabolic disease in which the body does not make enough insulin or it does not use the insulin properly to break down glucose into energy for cells to use. This disease affects 24 million people in the United States, and there are 57 million people who may have diabetes and do not know it. (American Diabetes Association)

On October 3, 2009, nearly 20 USP Circle K and APha (American Pharmacists' Association) members volunteered at the walk at the Philadelphia Art Museum.

Standing in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

We interacted with the walkers and their families as we handed out free material on diabetes education at the informational stand. Other volunteers handed out surveys at the end of the walk.

Walkers.

We all cheered for the walkers as they crossed the finish line!
